Osler Castle - Collingwood, Ontario

Acrylic on canvas painting from 2006. Built by the well known Toronto Lawyer, Britton Bath Osler (crown attorney at the trial of Louis Riel), for his ailing wife, Caroline, hoping the 'fresh air' would improve her health. Unfortunately, she died in 1896. He died in 1901 and the empty house was left to deteriorate. Vegetation, weather, vandals and a fire in the 1940's reduced the Osler Castle to ruins by the 1950's. No longer accessible to the public.
